2014 DIALOGUE & PEACE AWARDS

Ufuk Dialogue Foundation has presented prestigious Awards of 2014 Peace & Dialogue on 8 different categories. These were for the recognition of peoples contributions in fostering dialogue, peace, mutual understanding.
The conferment was coincided with 3rd DIALOGUE & PEACE IFTAR DINNER on 10th July, 2014 6.30 pm at Sheraton Hotel, Abuja. This award ceremony and dialogue dinner emphasized the importance of dialogue and peace between different religion members and nations.
Honorable Minister of Mines & Steel Development Arc. Musa Mohammed Sada gave
the awards of of 2014 Dialogue & Peace.
Secretary General Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs Prof.Ishaq Oloyede & Most Rev. Ignatius Ayau Kaigama President of CBCN and Archbishop of Jos were awarded in the category of religion for their efforts of dialogue in religion.
Prof. Suleiman Elias Bogoro, The Executive Secretary of TETFUND Bogoro was awarded for peace studies and dialogue efforts in academic life.
In media field Columnist Mr. Femi Adesina awarded for perspectives and opinions in his writings.
Founder of OYASAF Prince Yemisi Shyllon received award for his contribution to unity through art in the field of culture.
Dr. Joseph Golwa Secretary General of Ins. For Peace & Conflict Resolution was honored for his efforts in public service.
An Educationist Hacer Ruqayya who teaches dialogue in her schools was conferred in education level.
Federation of Muslim Women’s Associations in Nigeria-FOMWAN received award for their continuous efforts in civil society level.
The Dialogue and Peace Special Award of 2014 has been presented to Her Excellency Aisha Bala Mohammed, President Al Muhibbah Foundation
Honorable Minister of Mines & Steel Development Arc. Musa Mohammed Sada was Guest of Honor who also gave a speech in the evening. Secretary General of JWF Dr. Muharrem Atlig was the guest speaker of the dinner from Istanbul, Turkey. The Honorable Minister of Women and Social Development Hajia Zainab Maina also honored the night.
The Honorable Minister of Mine & Steel emphasized the importance of dialogue and peace in Nigeria and He said: “The month Ramadan brings a peaceful atmosphere to the Country that can bring more peace to people of Nigeria .”
The Guest Speaker Atlig has gave a speech about his experiences with Abrahamic religions and mentioned that: “We are together in Abrahamic tradition and we should follow the path of prophet Abraham to reach dialogue and peace between members of religions.”
In his speech the President of Ufuk Dialogue Foundation said: “Every long journey starts with a first step, we start first with dialogue that means to talk together and then we walk to gather, at last we start to work to gather. This dinner is a fruit of 3 years journey of dialogue and collaboration.”
